TESTING:
Web site production is not as straightforward as it sometimes appears. The world is full of various types of computer running an array of software versions, each of which is likely to support a subtly different set of facilities.
The result of this is that without comprehensive testing you could easily be limited to an audience reduced by over 50%. Some website designers would be satisfied with this - we are not. All our sites are THOROUGHLY tested on a range of computers and operating systems:-
- Windows 98, XP, ME
- The latest operating systems from Microsoft..
- Linux
- An operating system gaining popularity in certain areas, not the most popular but representative of a whole group of specialist computers.
- Apple Mac
- This system has gained great popularity since the recent introduction of the i-mac, in fact some reports have this down as the fastest growing workstation currently on the market.
None of these can be ignored as each represents a significant proportion of the computers that may be used to view your site.
To ensure that we can use most software 'web browsers', we test using:-
- Internet Explorer
- Microsoft's web browser is used by a large proprtion of people.
- Netscape
- Until Internet Explorer appeared this was by far the most used browser, and still has a significant proprtion of the market.
- Mozilla
- A web browser common on none microsoft systems.
- Lynx
- A very simple browser, it is not in itself widely used, but it does represent all the older, and non- standard browsers that are still in use on the web.
